White in full bloom

During the holidays every where we go we see bright vibrant colors and of course winter weddings are no exception to that rule....well that is until Machilline one of recent brides came along and became the exception. Subtle colors was her direction and with the help of her coordinator Gloria McCun from GrandeEngagments.com and 3petals.com. who did the decor Machelline had her vision come to life. In a beautiful array of white, silvers and a sprinkle of soft colors the ballroom came to life with a subtle glow of pure elegance.

"a splashing of white orchids"
"illuminate the room with a white dance floor and accent the room with lights"

 And the beautiful white cake!
Pacific Hills wishes you and yours a great Holiday season and a Happy New Year!

Sean and Nicole

Nicole and Sean tied the knot at Pacific Hills on Nov 5th. They had an amazing day planned out for their guests. The festivities started at Pacific Hills where the ceremony took place at 11 AM, from there the guests were treated to a hosted cocktail and appetizer hour followed by a lavishing buffet.  Even though this event was a afternoon wedding, there was no holding this crowd back from PARTYING!  The event ended at 4 PM then started up again at 7 PM where they had an awesome after party hosted at no other than the home of the grooms parents. Just because afternoon weddings are in the afternoon the celebration doesn't have to end early, for Nicole and Sean that was just the beginning of the joyful day, as the day went on so did the fun!!! Congratulations Sean and Nicole!!

Thank you Thao

There is nothing better than to recieve a great review from our guests. We thank you Thao for allowing us to host your wedding:

Words cannot express how happy my husband and I are with the choice we made by choosing Pacific Hills to hold your wedding day reception at. Tamim, our coordinator at the venue was absolutely wonderful. He was always prompt in answering all emails and made the day effortless. Pacific Hills offers different types of packages that can suite any bride to be's wedding budget. I got some many compliments on the food from all of my guest. Funny story is that my dad who is so traditional was dead set against my decision with choosing a buffet from the start because he felt that it was not "elegant" enough. After the wedding my dad definitely changed his tune. He told me that the food went above and beyond his expectations and now he even wants my sister to do a buffet dinner for her upcoming wedding next year. We got the most compliments on the appetiters which included cheese and crackers, vegetable eggrolls, and my favorite coconut chicken skewers. Tamim if you read this can you please find a way to sell these at my local grocery store so I can eat them again haha. As for the dinner portion we had three different salads, bread rolls with butter, garlic mash potatoes, seasonal vegetables, creamy champagne chicken, and prime rib. The chicken and prime rib was delicious. Extremely moist and tender. As an added bonus, we hired two extra servers that carved the prime rib and placed them on each of our guest plates which made it very chic and sophisticated. As for the decor, we went with gold chivari chairs, floor length linens, gold chargers, up-lighting, and pipe and drape. For those brides that are wondering what pipe and drape is, it is draping of a white curtain around the perimeter of the room that completely hides the walls. It was absolutely gorgeous! It definitely transformed the ballroom and made the up-lighting that much more special. I was even surprised to see that Tamim added extras to the lobby that night by placing beautiful glass vases with floating candles and votives on the tables. My guest were raving about the entire decor. Overall I am completely satisfied with the level of professionalism and the service that Pacific Hills provides. They truly care about all of their brides and grooms and that is what makes their venue stand out from the rest. The entire night I had a personal staff for my husband and I that made sure we got appetizers and cocktails sent to our bridal room, enough food sent to our sweetheart table, as well as enough champagne in my glass as I was making my rounds to do toast with my guest. My only advice to future brides would be to throughly research your vendors and make the effort to finalize all details with them the week of your wedding. All of my vendors were perfect except my DJ who unfortunately caused me so much stress the day of. My DJ was my husband's friend and he offered his services to us as a wedding present, but I realize now that brides should NEVER choose friends to be a vendor in your wedding. If they are your friends, they should be invited to the wedding and enjoy the day and not be expected to work. Even though we had a little mishap and started late because of our DJ, we did end up making the best of the night. I am still on cloud 9, even 5 days later. My family and friends are still talking about the wedding and thanking us for inviting them to share in such a wonderful experience. Thank you Pacific Hills, we are honored that you let us hold one of the biggest days of our lives at your beautiful venue. Tamim you are the best!!!

Get a Head Start Planning for Your Wedding

Thanksgiving is less than a month away. Why is this relevant to couples who are planning to get married or those who are planning to propose to their significant other? The engagement season is upon us. Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukah, Kwanza, and New Year's Eve are when many couples get engaged. According to Fair Child Bridal Group about 26% of marriage proposals take place in November and December.

With the engagement season upon us, and if your planning to get engaged or just got engaged, start planning now to get a head start. One of the first things couples book for their wedding and reception is the reception and the ceremony site. Once you have these two secured, you will find many of the details to plan for. If you want to get a head start, go online and start researching.

A Different Type of a Setup

Colors: Black and Green

One our favorite set ups. This event was for about 450 guests, but the client only wanted seating for about 150 guests. The food, set up, service and décor were all designed to create a free flow informal atmosphere. We designed the Laguna ballroom for dancing and set up only cocktail tables. All appetizers were tray passed butler style. We also had two pasta and salad stations, a dessert bar and a sushi station in the Laguna ballroom. The Newport ballroom was set up with pool tables and video games for guest to enjoy playing all night.

Catering at the Vibana Los Angeles

Many of our guests don't know that Pacific Hills also provides off-premise catering at different venues, locations, private residences and more.  We had the honor of catering Juliana and James' wedding at the Vibianna in Los Angeles.  They actually had visited our venue at one of our open houses and had fallen in love with the food.

Vibiana  is a gorgeous 18th century gothic church with amazing architecture and is rented for different events.  The is probably one of my favorite venues to work in, mainly becuase of the unique architecture and the overall look of the venue.  The lighing was done by the lighting guru's, Amber lighting and the event was coordinated by the very talented Kevin Covey.  If you are looking for a coordinator that not only does things right but has done numerous successful events, he is the one get.  Please visit him at http://www.kevinparties.com/

Clinton Foundation Fundraiser

Pacific Hills had the opportunity to put together a fundraising dinner event for President Clinton's Foundation.  The foundation itself runs at only 4.5% cost versus other foundations which run at 15% - 30% cost so 95.5% of the funds that are donated go straight to charity.  Please visit http://clintonfoundation.org/ and read more about this great foundation.

The event took place at a private residence in Newport coast and logistics was a bit of a challenge due to the size of the pool and lack of space in the back of the house.  So we hired a company to sub-floor the pool area and put chocolate brown carpeting so that we had ample space for guests to enjoy themselves.  The color scheme was white, chocolate brown and yellow.  We wanted to have that wow factor but also wanted guests to make sure they were comfortable.  The decor was done by none other than http://www.squarerootdesigns.com/

Grand entrance with a twist

This event was not at Pacific Hills but at some church.  Its a great way to make a grand entrance at your reception, although this couple did it at the church.   Incorporating performances and jazzing up your grand entrance will make your event more interesting and will set the tone for your reception.

Black and White

I have to say, this year has definitely been the year of black and white for weddings.  But Tiffany and Cedric wanted it do be a little different.  In order to accomodate her vision we custom ordered black and white linens then accented the walls with uplighting which enhanced all of the colors and made everything stand out.  Tiffany had made sure that all the little accesories from the party favors, to the candles to the place cards and even the table numbers all matched her decor and wedding colors; as you can see that was accomplished! Tiffany is also the little sister of the very talented Lisa Leslie from the Los Angeles Sparks.  She gave a great speech during the event and I have to stay this crowd definitely partied till the very end!!!

Proud to be a Marine

Most grooms wear a tuxedo to their reception. However, James who recently got married proudly wore his US Marine uniform at his reception. Looked great in pictures.

Remember your wedding is a celebration of your background and everything that represents you. A tuxedo looks great. However, wearing a military uniform or some other attire that is different, is an exceptionally great way to personalize your reception.

AbundantlyAbovePhotography.com was the photographer who took these great pictures.

Congrats Diana & James!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wedding Colors Tip

Can't pick a color for your wedding? Here are some ideas.
Some times brides have a hard time picking the right color for their reception. Here are some tips that can help you pick a color for your wedding.

1)There is no special color you must have at a wedding. Any color is a good color. Its all about how you put the colors together, your primary color and the accent colors you choose.

2)Your favorite color is good as any color, so regardless of when you are having your wedding, go with your favorite color if you cant choose any other color.

3)Color of the season. Each season has certain colors that go nicely with the season. Oranges and browns are great for fall, white or ice blue for winter, bright pinks, and lavender for spring and summer. These colors are just some examples but you get the idea.

4)And you always have friends and family who would love to give you ideas on your wedding colors and décor so don’t forget them.

5)Wedding magazines such as http://www.ceremonymagazine.com/ always has pictures of weddings.  You can see different color combinations used in each wedding.

In any case try to have fun picking colors and the décor for your reception.

Persian Wedding

We had posted some of pictures Raha and Hooman's Persian wedding on our blog but here is the video of the fun wedding.  Talk about guests having a great time at the wedding and dance, dance, dance......

Creative way to describe HIM & HER

These cards were placed on the place card table. On the cards the bride and groom described each other vales, attributes and love for one another...this adds a personal touch of creativity and sweetness.
