You will
invite a multitude of guests to your wedding! From your parents and siblings,
to your friends and co-workers, your guests list will be comprised of an array
of people. After all, you will want everyone who has been a wonderful addition
to your life to be present for your celebration!
However, you
may be wondering if you should invite your ex to your big day. Whether it be an
ex-boyfriend or ex-girlfriend, ex-spouse, or ex-fiancé, when you hear the word
“ex”, it’s usually viewed negatively. But, just because someone is an ex, that
doesn’t mean that they are a negative part of your life.
We believe
that every couple should invite who they please to their big day! That’s why,
here at Pacific Hills Bistro, Banquet & Catering, as an Orange County
wedding venue, we have gathered some insight to assist you with knowing if you
should invite your ex to your own wedding. Would you like to discover some
helpful tips? If so, be sure to read on:
- Old Friends. Is your ex an old friend? Someone you dated back in
middle school, high school, or even college? Someone that you have kept in
touch with and can look back and laugh at your relationship? If so, invite them
to your wedding! As long as your partner is comfortable with them, there is
certainly no harm in your ex being present for your nuptials, especially if you
have maintained a mature and healthy friendship since breaking up.
- An Ex-Spouse. Sometimes you get married, and it just doesn’t work
out unfortunately. However, just because you get divorced, that doesn’t mean
that you have a terrible relationship with one another. So, if you and your
ex-spouse still get along, extend an invitation to them! In addition, if you
have children together, it would be even more ideal to do so, especially if
your kids will be in your wedding.
- When to Say No. If you don’t feel 100 percent comfortable
with the thought of your ex being at your wedding, don’t invite them! While you
may still have an okay relationship with your ex, it’s important that you
aren’t hesitant with the thought of them being present at your wedding. If you
feel as though it would make your partner uneasy, don’t invite them. Or, if you
are worried about how they will act, especially after drinking, it most likely
wouldn’t be ideal for them to be present for your celebration.
Inviting an ex
to a wedding isn’t something that has to be frowned upon! These are just a few
tips to assist you with knowing if you should invite your ex to your own big
day.
